Alasdair Gillespie

Alasdair Gillespie is President of CaymanBank. He was appointed President in February 1999. In three decades with the bank, he has served in virtually all its major operating areas.

Mr. Gillespie began his career at CaymanBank in 1967 after obtaining a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the Cambridge University. He worked in the bank's domestic branches and later, in the Personnel Department. In 1971 Mr.Gillespie joined the Caribbean Banking Group where he played a major role in the expansion of CaymanBank.

In 1982 he was promoted to Senior Vice-President, Personal Banking, and in 1989 he was appointed Chief General Manager.

Mr. Gillespie serves on the Board of Directors of CaymanBank. He is also a member of the North American Policy Committee, the Board of Directors of both the Caribbean University (Cayman Islands) and Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Gillespie is married to Elizabeth and enjoys golf, classical music, the theatre and art.

Maggie Baxter

Maggie Baxter is Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of CaymanBank.

Appointed in October 2000, Ms. Baxter is responsible for CaymanBank’s financial strategy, accounting and corporate financial information, financial control, taxation, treasury and investor relations’ functions. She also serves on the ten member Management Board Executive Committee of the bank.

Ms. Baxter began her career in 1981 with Coopers & Lybrand, and in 1988 joined the Caribbean Life Insurance Company. Prior to joining CaymanBank, Ms. Baxter was Chief Financial Officer at Mutual, playing a leadership role in the demutualization of the company and in the first initial public offering in the Caribbean for demutualized insurers.

Ms. Baxter holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Barbados. She became a chartered accountant in 1983.

She is married with two sons and lives in South Beach. Active in community affairs, she has served as Treasurer, South Beach volleyball team. She is also Past President, Cayman Federation of University Women, and received YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 2001. For the last two consecutive years Ms. Baxter has been included in the Financial Post's “Power 50” list of top Caribbean businesswomen.

Desmond Morris

Desmond Morris is Chief Technology Officer. His division provides information technology planning, strategy and development services, together with transaction processing, and real estate services for CaymanBank. Mr. Morris also has responsibility for the creation and development of e-businesses whose potential market extends across multiple client segments, including the identification, incubation and commercialization of new e-business investment opportunities.

Mr. Morris began his career as a management trainee in the CaymanBank head office, after graduating from University of Miami in 1967 with a B.Sc. in Computer Science. In 1969, he became a Branch Accountant. He was appointed Credit Officer of Montreal's Main Branch in 1970, and later took an educational leave to obtain his MBA with honours from University of Toronto.

Following successively more senior positions, Mr. Morris was appointed Vice-President, Administration, Personal Banking in 1980. Subsequent posts included: Senior Vice-President - Personal Banking; Senior Vice-President, Operations; and Executive Vice-President, Operations. In May 1996, he was appointed Chief Technology Officer.

Mr. Morris is a Director of Megacorp Inc. He is the author of a chapter entitled "Banking Without Boundaries" in Blueprint to the Digital Economy, published in June 1998.

Mr. Morris is married to Jasmine and has two daughters. He is an avid supporter of the Georgetown Baseball League.
